ABOUT ME
My name is Adam Williams and I am currently a college basketball player at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I am a senior in school with two years remaining eligibility to play basketball. My athletic career to this point has been that of a journeyman, allowing me to be associated with some of the most influential people in basketball today. I plan to pursue a career as a college basketball coach upon exhausting my eligibility.
I started playing basketball at a very young age. My father is a legendary coach in WV who has coached on many different levels including high school, college, and professional. Upon completion of my sophomore year in high school, I was extended a scholarship offer from Tubby Smith at the University of Kentucky and accepted. I would go on to be a two-time first team all-state selection at St. Albans High School in WV as well as Gatorade and AP player of the year after my senior season.
After completing my senior season, I decided to attend prep school a year to refine my skills before attending Kentucky. This also gave UK the opportunity to sign much needed big man Randolph Morris. I attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. This academy featured some of the best coaches you have never heard of in the U.S. NBA players such as Tayshaun Prince, Chauncey Billips, Kevin Garnett and many others trained at this facility.
Upon completion of the prep school year, I was off to Kentucky with coach Tubby Smith. This experience was one of the greatest of my life as I played with NBA players Rajon Rondo and Randolph Morris. Being in practice every day was a very valuable tool for a person wanting to enter the profession of coaching. Needless to say, I did not earn the playing time I had hoped and decided after one year that I should transfer to gain substantial playing time.
Marshall University was an obvious choice for me because of location. My coach at Marshall, Donnie Jones, was the Head Assistant coach for the Florida Gators during their back to back national championship teams. Many of the things we do in practice are a carbon copy of the Gators practices. Coach Jones also pulls information from Marshall Alum Mike D'Antoni, head coach of the Phoenix Suns.
I hope this small bit of information about me has given you the confidence to try out one of my workouts.
